I sat in a theatre with 10 other people and watched a great movie. Then I went and stood in a hall listening to some really good bands. Why was there so much space? Good Night, and Good Luck takes an interesting look at the plight of television news in the 50s. There are some great comparisons to be made with the fear of communism and terrorism and hysterical men. And today there was a great talk on AIH with Mary-Lou and Ted Coppel in which they referenced this movie. Drive By Punch was in from Toronto and, other that having an inexplicable fascination with spinning guitars around their not completely sleek bodies, they are great. Super fun music and there were like six of them on stage. And then the FullBlast, who I ended up missing most. However, I did discovered Gogol Bordello, and, if you don't know this band, you should check it out. And then tell me what you think. I bet I can already guess who you will compare them too. Sadly, when I went to buy their CD tonight after having listened to it all day, I discovered it is not at the Trader yet. Sux. Anyway, the thee FullBlast songs were definetly a blast, a full blast. The real point is, please tell me about a book, band, movie, painting, anything you know about that others don't seem to. We gotta support the good stuff. |
